(ANSA) - Terni, May 9 - Italian photovoltaic energy company TerniEnergia has signed an industrial agreement with Valle d'Aosta Energie, part of steel maker Cogne Acciai Speciali, to develop, build and launch in Italy photovoltaic plants of installed capacity between 200 and 5,000 kWp each.

The agreement also envisages the possibility to sell electricity produced by the plants to be built, as well as development, construction and launch of wind farms in Italy.

As part of the accord the two companies have set up a 50/50 joint venture, EnergiaAlternativa, TerniEnergia said in a statement.

This is the second agreement TerniEnergia has signed with an energy and industrial operator after the joint venture stipulated in March 2007 with the Italian unit of French renewable energy group EDF Energies Nouvelles.

TerniEnergia, set up in September 2005, is part of the Terni Research group and operates in the renewable energy sector, focusing on photovoltaic energy. The company is also making research, tests and preliminary design of energy producing plants using other alternative sources such as wind, and has already designed three wind farms, TerniEnergia said.
