The Visitor Centre in Cogne was opened in 2007. “TutelAttiva-Laboratorio Parco” is its
name
and it is presented to visitors as a research laboratory, for the study and understanding of natural events, for improving one's knowledge of the environment and analysing Park decisionsinrelation to its territorial management. The protection of a natural area under continuous transformation implies an uninterruptedsearch for the perfect balance between protection requirements and the knowledgeable use of the natural resources. The Park's complex and dynamic evolution is presented as a in an experimental
laboratory, with explanatory models, multimedia systems, interactive games, role play and an original "sensory spaces", that gives visitors the opportunity to experience the smells of nature and to hear the characteristic sounds of the forest. The themes developed in the areasof the Centre are:
water, the forest and the pasture, thefauna
and
'mankind. The Centre is aimed, at nature enthusiasts as well as schools; due to the matters covered by it and the interactive methods used, the exhibition is perfectly suited to receive visits from student groups. During opening hours
the Centre is looked after by a Park Guide who is able to provide competent and detailed information , in answer to any questions. Park Visitor Centres are managed by the
Fondation Grand Paradis
, a body whose aim is to develop naturalistic and cultural tourism on the Val d'Aosta side of the
Gran Paradiso National Park
