Mont Mars Visitor Centre

A multimedia, educational exhibit next to the natural reserve

The Visitor Centre of the Regional Natural Reserve of Mont Mars is situated in Fontainemore, near the main town, a short distance from regional road 44 that links Pont-Saint-Martin to Gressoney-Saint-Jean. The exhibition layout follows naturalistic and historic themes. Large-scale dioramas illustrate the natural, characteristic environments of the Reserve; of particular visual effect is the reproduction of a stream with its relative flora and fauna;

photographs, filmsand interactive systems guide the visitor to the discovery of the biology of animal species falling under the category of alpine fauna. On the other hand, an itinerary led by sounds and images, evokes the historic procession to the sanctuary in Orapa in the Province of Biella, that has now been taking placefor hundreds of years. The Visitor Centre also houses an educational hall,available for student bodies and temporary exhibitions and which is, during the summer period,,the starting point

for guided tours to the natural reserve. Leaflets and information materials on protected Val' d'Aosta areas are available from the Centre, providing information on footpaths, cultural events and onthe initiatives promoted by the Pro Loco (Municipal Tourist Board), as well as information on the reception structures and the services offered.
