Covarey Visitor Centre
An information point, a museum and a multi-purpose room recount the Park
The Visitor Centre in Chevrère (hamlet of Covarey)
has an information point, where it is possible to view films and photographs dedicated to thePark of Mont Avic on a large video-wall, that simultaneously
projects both fixed and moving images. Information materials on the Park and on the network of protected alpine areas, as well as other publications, are available from the Information Point. The Centre houses a naturalistic museum that describes the rocky environments, humid areas and forests of the Park, stimulating the visitor's curiosity with interactive systems; you will participate
in the
discovery
of the "secret park": the natural elements that are difficult to see or can only be reached ... with discretion. There is also a multi-purpose room, for educational activities, projections, conferences and temporary exhibitions. In the Centre's green belt is a plastic reproduction of the Park and its surroundings; the confines of theprotected area, the footpaths and the main topographic reference points are highlighted. The forests “bear” their autumnal colours so that pine, larch and beech forests can be easily distinguished. There are also illustrated panels thatdescribe the environments
ofcommunityinterest included in the protected area (Life-Nature - Nature Sites 2000 project in the Park of Mont Avic). The Visitor Centre bears a wooden sculpture by G. Anzola, dedicated to theactivitiestraditional
tothe Mont Avic valley: agricultural works, charcoal production, mining exploitationand religious processions.
