The following locations are interesting and valid alternatives to the most well-known Val d'Aosta cross-country skiresorts. The municipality of Saint-Nicolas is 9 km from the Aosta ovest motorway exit and overlooks the central valley , with its ski slope at Fossaz (7.5 km), at an altitude of 1200 metres and in a village, , Col de Joux (5 km), at an altitude of 1900 metres. Valgrisenche has 7,5 km of cross-countryski slopes distributed over 4 different tracks. The village of Planaval, in the municipality of Arvier, also has a 5 km track. Antey-Saint-André, in the Matterhorn
(Cervino) valley, has an 8 km medium difficulty circuit for sporting enthusiasts. Champorcher has a medium-difficulty ski slope, set in an unspoiled natural environment,in the main town of Château, and another, 3 Km-  slope that can be reached by telecabin, in the of Laris district. Verrayes, offers cross-country skiingon the Champlong, slope, which also links with Torgnon. La Thuile has a ski slopeand 4 circuits suitable for every level of cross-country skier. In the municipality of Ayas, the slopes extend close to
4 villages, and cover a total of 16 km.. The Periasc slopes are structured over different circuits: the longest extending for 7.5 km. Champoluc has a small ski slope and a 3.5 km circuit; Varasc has 2 easy circuits. The tracks at Antagnod cover the panoramic upland plain of Barmasc: isolated mountain chalets colour the landscape between red fir and larch forests with Monte Rosa in the background.
