Spring

Springtime in Valle d’Aosta
As is the case everywhere...it lives the feeling of awakening, the "morning light” that firstly involves the natural environment, with the reappearance of flowers and the renewed vitality of the animals . It is a period of increasing tension of thought and emotions about the future and the first steps out are moments of exploration and fruition of the different cultural expressions. We would advice: visiting the Castles , listening to the choirs singing hosted by the various festivals, curiosity incursions amidst sports of popular tradition on snow free meadows, the first tasting itineraries and the wine tasting, in the events that will culminate (in May) with "Cantine Aperte" (open vineyards) ; it is an occasion to visit the numerous heritage and monumental assets inherited from history (above all Roman and Medieval ), found in abundance in the
Aosta capital and "in the display window” during the cultural week (free visits to castles and exhibitions and monuments assessed on rotation). The side of the region most exposed to the lightness and warmth of the spring sun, known as adret, for its contrast to the envers (still partially in the shade) firstly hosts the new chromatic predominant colours of yellows shaded orange, shades traditionally associated with intellectual curiosity , the spreading of vital energy and the surfacing of good humour . They will gradually spread across the entire area, emphasising, by contrast, the chromatic floral marks and the reappearance of greenery. In springtime, the region hosts the traditional school outings, above all around, and in anticipation of, Easter ; the Atéliers appear at Bard Fortress and the synergetic activities of the Fortress (a real
centre for cultural offerings) and the Regional Astronomical Observatory . Practising sport starts to move one's focus from the snow to other scenarios, although, high altitude skiing still survives for a little longer (it is at the end of April - on odd years - the Mezzalama trophy race , classic Alpine skiing on the Monte Rosa range and competition included on the international circuit). It starts with the most popular sports (jogging, walking,....) up to the more modern activities, although expression of ancient archetypes like man, such as hand-gliding or water sports .
