Autumn
Autumn in Valle d’Aosta
…
-
|
-
It takes full
advantage of the summer energy
and takes form in the harvesting and production of
mountain wines
, as well as
apple
and
chestnut picking
and in the production of
lard
and
fontina
(especially the Alpine one). Thanks to the
food festivals
,
wine shows
and grape festivals
(Chambave and Donnas, among others) or apple festivals (Antey and Gressan), the region displays its "fruits" to the gourmet curiosity of visitors in a wealth of all round perceptions, that accompany the "essences" and perfumes of
medicinal and aromatic herbs
(Verrayes and Saint Dénis). In order to elaborate and
transform
the sensations into cultural curiosity, it is also possible to visit the
museums
of wine (Donnas), participate in the “
events
”, such as the
Marché au Fort
of Bard or, in
a more choreographical key, the
Désarpa
(return of the herds from the mountain pastures in the Region, to the valley), as a sign of the reflective soul that
“focuses inside”
before the winter season; alternatively, it is possible to participate in the most recent novelties, the
Valle d’Aosta Festival
, that abounds with charm on San Grato (7 September). From this point of view, autumn is also a moment when the
creativity
of
craftsmen comes to light, a creativity that will peak and act as display window during winter events and fairs. The
mild climate
still allows for numerous excursions to discover the traditional architecture
, in various locations, often not famous, but capable of offering alternative, seductive days, enjoying the colours of
memories
and
reflection
.
The shades of red, the brown of the leaves and the blue, so commonly found in the sky (in September, at the
Regional Astronomy Observatory
, the forerunner of the Italian "Star Parties" is organised), strengthen the hope of reactivating and revitalising the energies "put away" and protected from stress. A point of interest: the magic of autumnal colours has raised interest in a naturalistic subject so widespread in North America: "Leaf peeping” or “foliage”, an aesthetic-naturalistic activity that allows you to observe leaves - "painted with the season" - in the forests with the most varying of species.
